Nesting on Steroids

I know most women don't decide to redo their kitchen cabinets 6 weeks before having a baby, but call me crazy because I did.  I have been wanting to have them done since we have lived in this house and just have never done it.  I knew that if I didn't do it now, I would never do it.  So.... it just so happened that we had one weekend before Holt arrives that we needed to go out of town to get our last little bit for him and would be gone for majority of the weekend.  I cleaned out the kitchen on Wednesday, the painters came and prepped on Friday, painted on Saturday and Sunday and we were completely done by the following Friday with doors and drawers back in place.  I absolutely love my new kitchen and it makes it feel so much brighter and bigger!  Even Dan loves it more than he will admit.  Haha!

Lots Of Love for Baby Holt

We have been doing some home projects before Holt arrives so I have been without a computer for the past month and I don't think you can, nor would I want to update my blog via iPhone.  So I have lots of time to make up for.
The last weekend of September was filled with showers for Holt.  Dan's parents were able to come down and celebrate with us at both showers since one was a couple's shower and the other was given by some of my dearest clients/friends.  It was so great to be able to have both of our parents with us to share in such a special time.
Matt and Cooper and Lance and Amber hosted a couple's shower for us and our friends.  It was great and of course, knowing Cooper, was perfection down to every detail.  The food, the decor, the wonderful time spent with our friends and family,  it was more than we could asked for and we are so appreciative that they all went above and beyond to do this for us.

We were also blessed to have another shower on Sunday afternoon at Jennifer Lindemann's house.  The Lindemann family along with Kim Holmes and Darla Milhollon hosted this wonderful day for us.  There were many special touches here also, and so many of my longtime customers came and shared this day with me making it so much more special.  It's amazing how all these years of being in business and it has truly hit me that my customers are so much more than that, they are my friends.  I am so attached to them as they are to me and I will miss them one day when I'm done with nursing school and no longer have this job.  I am so privaledged to have so many wonderful people that I get to share my life and every day with.

Birthdays.....

I guess 91 is the magical number this week at our house.  My grandfather would have been 91 on Friday and Reeces will be 13 (91 in human years) tomorrow.  Pawpaw almost made it to his 91st birthday.  I really kind of think he was holding out for it, but just got tired.  He was pretty stubborn like that and might have wanted to just prove us all wrong that last year was his last birthday.  I'm sure he had a heck of a birthday celebration this year though.

This was our last Christmas with him. I love this grin, it shows how mischevious he was.

Celebrating his 90th birthday last year.

I have always loved this picture of him, he was so handsome.

I can't believe my little Reeces is 13! It seems like just yesterday I brought him home and he was so small he fit in the palm of my hand, considering he weighed 3lbs.  Yes, he's old and grumpy, is losing his eyesight and hearing, but he's still my little Reeces.  He's been my best little friend for the past 13 years and just the thought of something happening to him makes me tear up.  He has already outlived all the other pomeranians in my family, they all died at age 12.  I feel that, just despite Dan, he will live forever as most of you know, they have a love/hate relationship.  Dan will miss him more than he thinks.  He will actually miss getting growled at when he gets up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night or when he gets into bed.  No matter what, Reeces is one of a kind and there will never be another dog with such a personality.

Finally.....
Paint colors have been chosen! Now, for the average person this might not be a big deal, but for me, it's huge! I don't think I could have convinced Dan to go back to Home Depot for another sample of a "grey" as I think we tried every grey there is out there.  Who would have thought there were so many?  Some had too much green, some had too much purple, some too much blue, and the list goes on. So, the winner is Martha Stewart's Bedford Grey and Behr's French Grey for an accent wall.  I am super excited about these colors as I think they will go perfect with our bedding and the other accesories for our little guy's nursery.

Last Thursday we went to DFW to pick up my dear friend, Jessica and Miss Amelia as they made the long trip from California for Holt's first baby shower.  It was so great to have them here with us during such a special event.  It's always so hard when we part our ways until the next Herbert/Bess adventure, and yes, I usually end up with tears in my eyes as I walk away because I miss them being walking distance around the corner from us.  This time it was such a different feeling and I had so many different emotions.  Next time we see them, it will be December and Holt will be here and  our little family of two will be a family of three.  It's such a strange feeling to think about, a good one, but still strange.

Holt's First Baby Shower

Last Saturday my long time friends that I've had since kindergarten threw me a baby shower in Seymour.  I can't begin to explain how thankful I am to have friends like this.  They made the day so special for me and I am so grateful to have them in my life.  I know not many people can say they have friends from kindergarten so I am so blessed and realize what a gift it is.  Holt was spoiled and he received so many great gifts, both fun and functional.  Now the question is, where am I going to put everything?

One of the most special gifts was given to us from my good friend, Christel's mom, Jeanne.  She made him burp cloths, sheets, a swaddle blanket and the most amazing quilt.  She stitched our plane on the quilt! How awesome is that?
